WHICH EBOOK FORMAT
SHOULD YOU USE…..
HTML OR PDF?
Only Two Common Types of
Digital Ebook Formats are Discussed….
This is only a
brief summary for the two different types. HTML is a Windows
compatible style format and PDF is compatible on both Windows based
machines and Macintosh (Mac's).
The PDF type format is proprietary to Adobe Systems. It requires the
use of a separate reader once the product content is created. The
PDF Reader can be downloaded for Free at Adobe
Acrobat's website, Adobe.com.
One of the advantages in creating PDF style ebooks is it can be read
on all computers.
Most (HTML) EXECUTION type formats require a Windows Based PC or
server machine. PDF formatted ebooks tend to be files of large sizes
and slow to display the content on your screen. Yet, PDF is a very
popular ebook format.
I use the PDF format on many occasions where my ebook is many pages
and should be read like a manual or manuscript.
Inserting graphic effects and various types of video or scripts
usually will require the HTML format.
The HTML style ebook is in reality website files compiled into one
single executable product.
In comparison to the PDF style, the HTML ebook should be limited in
page size and quantity.
When there are many pages to an eBook, the preferred PDF format is
easier to read.
There are many variables to consider in determining which publishing
format you should use for the final ebook product.
Learning both style formats in the e-Course will provide you with
the knowledge to decide on HTML or PDF.
